A federal District Court in Ohio has dismissed an unusual claim by a youth volleyball league for indemnification from a parent who has sued the league for breach of contract in failing to allow his daughter to play. “John Doe” was assisting as a volunteer score board operator at a game in 2018 where his fourth-grade daughter was playing in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Volleyball League. He heard the referee make a series of offensive and sexualizing remarks about the female players.
