A woman who worked a 48-hour weekend shift at a domestic abuse shelter is not entitled to the protection of the Fair Labor Standards Act because neither she nor the agency is engaged in interstate commerce, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals has held. The woman who worked for the Okmulgee County Family Resource Center in Oklahoma was paid for only 40 hours and claimed she was entitled to overtime pay for the additional time.
