Statement that “same thing happened to mom” enough to avoid summary judgment in age case
A statement to the terminated tennis director of a country club that the club president was very sympathetic about the termination and that the same thing happened to his mother when “one day they let her go because they thought she was too old” and “wanted to hire some young people” was sufficient to allow the director to proceed with his age discrimination case and deny summary judgment to the club, a federal District Court in Mississippi has ruled.
