Photography Center not qualified for charitable exemption
A nonprofit photography center that provides free exhibits, classes, lectures and traditional darkroom space to the public is not a “charitable” organization and does not provide sufficient gifts or giving to qualify for charitable real estate tax exemption, according to the Magistrate Division of the Oregon Tax Court. The Newspace Center for Photography is open 12 hours a day Monday through Thursday, and eight hours a day on Friday and Saturday for free viewing of their monthly photography exhibits.
