Dismissal for apparent conflict is improper

The dismissal of a bank employee who failed to disclose that she was living with an independent accountant who audited the books of nonprofits whose applications she reviewed for loans and grants has been held to be improper. The federal District Court in Puerto Rico has said the dismissal violates the Puerto Rico law prohibiting dismissal without “just cause.” Socorro Rivera-Rosa reviewed Community Reinvestment Act applications for a branch of Citibank and had the authority to make small grants from the Citigroup Foundation.
