When the federal government sought to take ownership by forfeiture of a Detroit motorcycle club’s clubhouse in connection with a criminal prosecution, several members of the club and two others purporting to be president of the club sought to prevent the takeover. The government said the property was subject to forfeiture because members of the nonprofit Highwaymen Motorcycle Club, also known as Detroit Highwaymen, had used the property in commission of drug-trafficking offenses.
