Release may fail if not understood
A release executed by volunteers working at an auto raceway to raise funds for charity may not be effective if the volunteers did not understand its significance, a federal District Court in New Hampshire has ruled. The case is another step in attempting to recover for a man who suffered traumatic brain injury when thrown from a golf card he was riding across the infield on race day. He had earlier been denied recovery under worker’s compensation by the state Supreme Court. ( See Nonprofit Issues®, 12/16/08 .)
