Nonprofit Issues® editor Don Kramer will participate in two sessions at the three-day Risk Management and Finance Summit for Nonprofits presented by the Nonprofit Risk Management Center in Philadelphia on Sunday through Tuesday October 10-12.
Kramer will present one session on “Nonprofit Law: (Almost) Everything You Wanted to Know in One Meeting” in the morning of October 11. The session will feature a “board meeting” of a LOST nonprofit organization and will cover the basics of tax-exempt status, unrelated business income, charitable solicitation rules, governance and structure, indemnification, and a whole lot more.
In the afternoon, he will moderate a panel entitled: “Family Matters: Managing Parent/Affiliate Relations and Risk.” Panelists will try to answer the question: What’s harder? Operating as an affiliate of a national or international organization that has adopted a web of changing rules and costly compliance requirements or operating as a national organization that seeks to support affiliates while ensuring appropriate protection of the national brand?
