A small nonprofit corporation that files a successful Freedom of Information Act case against the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense without using an outside lawyer is entitled to recover attorney’s fees, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has ruled. Although an individual who files a pro se suit without an attorney is not entitled to collect attorney’s fees, the Court says that a small nonprofit that uses an attorney who is also a corporate officer can recover.
